Description
Project Homeless Connect (PHC) is a one-day, one-stop center to link people experiencing—or at risk of experiencing—homelessness with a broad range of services. Guests will receive assistance with housing, employment, health and dental care, mental health care, veterans’ benefits, social service benefits, legal services and are offered haircuts, showers and clothing. Lunch and personal care gift bags will also be provided.
Project Homeless Connect makes a powerful impact on homeless people’s lives by providing a wide range of assistance in one location through the outpouring of respect and hospitality. It enables service providers to effectively reach many people in a single day and to efficiently coordinate their services. At the same time, it educates the community about the issues surrounding homelessness while allowing individual community members the opportunity to display their efforts, talents, and compassion.
At the 2009 event, more than 750 guests were served who had access to a menu of 66 services from 19 service categories provided by 56 different agencies/programs. Service providers were assisted by approximately 120 volunteers. For more information or to volunteer for this event please contact Mike Mescall @ 856-6423 or Lisa Williams @ 832-6024.
